'Did you know there’s a hidden lake in Levenshulme? Tucked just off the Fallowfield Loop, the Secret
Lake
was once an industrial reservoir. Over the years, it’s been left to rewild and take on a life of its
own. Today, it’s a quiet, green space full of trees, water birds - a place that means a lot to many
local people.
Now, we want to gather the voices of the people who know it best. We’re working with sound artist Emily
Zurowski to create a new audio piece about the Secret Lake and we want to hear your memories,
reflections and stories about the lake.' [Levenshulme Old Library] Read more

Emily has made use of a range of experimental methods to record and process the sounds of the Secret Lakes. From the micro worlds of ants to the industrial sounds of South-east Manchester, all parts of the Lakes and their surrounding areas can be heard in this creation.
This work approaches our relationship with the natural world from a more-than-human standpoint, where every sound is valuable in its own way.
